Laser Tattoo Removal

If you regret getting a tattoo, whether it was from your earlier years or a more recent acquisition, it no longer needs to be permanent. Using our AW3® we can safely and effectively remove almost all tattoos and permanent make up.

How does it work?

Tattoo ink particles are too large for the body’s immune system to remove naturally because when tattoo pigment is injected into the lower layers of the skin (dermis) it becomes locked away by a wall of collagen fibres. This is why they can sometimes fade over time but still remain permanent. Our AW3® Combo Laser produces very short bursts of high energy laser light. The light is absorbed by the large ink particles, generating heat that shatters the tattoo pigment into minute particles which the body is able to remove. Because the tattoo ink selectively absorbs the laser energy, the surrounding skin doesn’t overheat and there is no lasting damage.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of tattoo removal sessions needed to successfully remove a tattoo will depend on a number of key factors including the age of the tattoo, your skin type, the size and the positioning of the tattoo. Other factors such as the colour composition of your tattoo and just how well the treatment area heals between your treatment sessions are also important. Clients normally see a reduction after the first treatment however to completely remove a tattoo it could be between 3-6 treatments with intervals of at least 4 weeks between treatments. For some clients, more sessions may be necessary for a complete removal.

Does it hurt?

The level of pain felt will depend on the type of tattoo, the location of the tattoo and your own pain threshold. Some clients would describe it as no more than uncomfortable, where others will describe it as an elastic band flicked against the skin. The truth is that you will only know how painful you find it until you try it! When we complete your patch test you will get a feel of how the treatment work and feels.
